It's actually a very efficient process and most of the fragments are easy to transcribe through the web interface. I went through the tutorial that lasted about 5 minutes and then I transcribed nine little fragments in about twenty minutes.
Some of the fragments are very hard, but most are legible once zoomed in.

When two Oxford University undergraduate students discovered an Egyptian rubbish dump filled with ancient Greek papyri in 1896, they spent ten years meticulously digging for fragments.
